I have been the co-advisor of the SUNY Cortland chemistry club. We have been recognized each year with awards from the American Chemical Society, including Commendable and Honorable Mention Awards. We have focused our outreach efforts on doing demonstration shows with elementary-aged children.

The Hicks lab traveled to The College of Wooster in June 2020 to take part in the BWiSER summer program for middle school aged girls. We developed a 4 day workshop where the campers performed novel research to isolate and study the ability of environmental bacteria to degrade nicotinic acid.
