For many years, Dr. Hicks was the co-advisor of the SUNY Cortland chemistry club. We have been recognized each year with awards from the American Chemical Society, including Commendable and Honorable Mention Awards.
More recently, members of the Hicks lab have traveled to The College of Wooster to take part in the BWiSER summer program for middle school aged girls. We developed a 4 day workshop where the campers performed novel research to isolate and study the ability of environmental bacteria to degrade nicotinic acid.
